Microsoft have announced that they will be bringing out a new version of Internet Explorer and it is now in the beta testing stage. Read more to see how this effects you.
First off it depends who built your site and if they have made it cross browser. What this means is there are currently 2 ways for browsers to read website code – the Microsoft way and the right way. Up until now a large number of developers (or designers with FrontPage / Dreamweaver) have only been programming sites to run on Internet Explorer and ignoring the other browsers. The kicker being that IE8 will see Microsoft fall in line with the rest of the developing world! So all those sites which have been programmed just for IE6 & 7 will no longer appear properly on any main browser.
You can be easily seen by downloading Firefox for free and seeing if your site appears as you would expect. Things to watch out for which we have previously seen include:
The entire site is stacked into a 1 inch square in the top left of your screen,
The navigation disappears,
The site disappears,
Something moves somewhere unexpected,
Everything moves somewhere unexpected,
Links / buttons become unclickable (usually seen overlap issues)
Alternatively we will happily check your site free of charge on the 8 main web browsers currently in use, including Firefox and IE8
